WEMentorship Program
Women make up just 20% of the industrial workforce, while males make up 80%, according to a study by the International Labor Organization. Raising the number of women working in manufacturing has the potential to boost the economy and provide women with more employment options. However, the proportion of women working in industrial occupations is still low because of a variety of myths and a lack of opportunity.
Jubilant Bhartia Foundation, in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals of Gender Equality, has launched a unique program called WeMentorship Program to bridge this gender gap and increase the representation of women in industrial sector. The goal of this initiative is to encourage more young women to pursue careers in manufacturing sites by fostering an environment more accommodating to their demands. This program is being implemented at 6 locations - Gajraula, Bharuch, Savli, Nanjangud, Nira, and Roorkee. Up to 120 young women will benefit from this program, which will provide them with 21st-century skills, employability skills, leadership training, personality development, entrepreneurship training, mentoring, career guidance, and counselling. These young women will then be hired as apprentices in manufacturing plants, increasing their participation in the manufacturing industry. Both the young women and the industrial sector stand to benefit from the Wementorship programme. The young women will gain valuable work skills and mentoring, while the industrial sector will profit from a more diversified workforce.
Jubilant Bhartia Foundation Bharuch team has begun training sessions with 30 females from Government Engineering College, Bharuch, which will be followed by plant visits, employee mentoring, and eventually hiring them as apprentices.
