Business Segment Review
Specialty Chemicals
Specialty Chemicals is our largest and highest-margin business segment, driven by deep chemistry expertise, innovation-led solutions, and global customer partnerships. Built around three business segments – Bio-Pyridine & Bio-Picolines, Fine Chemicals and CDMO, Specialty Chemicals help customers turn complex chemistry into dependable reality. With the ability to backward & forward integrate, specialty chemical combines versatile manufacturing assets with deep chemistry expertise to deliver building blocks, high-value intermediates and custom synthesis solutions for pharmaceutical, agrochemical, semiconductor & electronics, Personal care nutrition and other industrial applications.
During FY 2026, our Fine Chemicals portfolio gained momentum, supported by volume growth across Pyridine and Diketene Derivatives. The Cosmetics portfolio expanded beyond Niacinamide with new products progressing through customer qualification. Our CDMO business achieved a significant milestone with the commencement of despatches from the Agro CDMO facility.
Nutrition and Health Solutions
Nutrition & Health Solutions support brands that nourish people and animals every day. Drawing on decades of work in vitamins, choline and specialised premixes, this business provides science-backed ingredients and tailored formulations for food, feed, pharmaceutical and personal-care products, helping customers meet strict quality, safety and regulatory expectations across multiple geographies and grades.
We are globally #2 in Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) and a domestic leader in Vitamin B4 (Choline). FY 2026 witnessed healthy volume momentum across key products. Vitamin B3 achieved its highest volumes in eight quarters during Q4 FY 2026, driven by demand across food, feed, and cosmetic applications. Choline benefited from easing Chinese imports and rising demand in Europe due to anti-dumping duties on Chinese products.
The Human Nutrition platform was strengthened through the acquisition of Remidex Pharma, expanding our presence in the Vitamin and Mineral Premix segment. Cosmetic and food-grade B3 gained traction in the EU and US, and steady volume scale-up is underway in India.
Chemical Intermediates
Chemical Intermediates provide the building blocks that keep essential industries running. From acetyl and ketene-based products such as acetic anhydride, ethyl acetate, propionic anhydride, bio acetic acid, formaldehyde and bio-acetaldehyde, this segment offers reliable, large-scale supply for pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, polymers, packaging, coatings and other industrial uses, giving customers a stable, integrated source for critical upstream chemistry.
Despite tough market conditions, the segment retained 70%+ domestic merchant market share in Acetic Anhydride and gained share in Europe.
Acetic Anhydride volumes grew strongly, supported by resilient pharmaceutical demand, while Ethyl Acetate delivered double-digit volume growth. Input cost pressures from Middle East disruptions were effectively passed through to customers, and recovery in Acetyls is expected to continue into FY 2027.
